EXPLORING CULTURE AND NATURE: A MEMORABLE FIELD VISIT

On October 4, 2024 we set out for a field visit that promised a day rich with art, culture, and the wonders of nature. The day started early with a fresh breeze and  we gathered at the Kottarakara coffee house for breakfast. The students was split into two groups. Our  field visit included the Napier Museum, Sree Chitra Art Gallery, the Marine Research Aquarium, Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, and a relaxing visit to Kovalam Beach, offering a mix of cultural immersion and nature's tranquility.

As we approached the Napier Museum, located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, the grand architecture, with its unique Indo Saracenic style, greeted us.

After a short walk, we reached the Sree Chitra Art Gallery, a heaven for lovers of art. This gallery houses some of the finest collections of renowned painters such as Raja Ravi Varma and Nicholas Roerich.

From the world of art, we shifted our focus to the mysteries of the ocean at the Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium, Vizhinjam. The marine life on display was mesmerizing.

Our final cultural stop was the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, Kovalam where we witnessed artisans at work. This village is a hub for traditional Kerala crafts, where wood carvings, pottery, and handloom textiles come to life through the skilled hands of craftsmen.

Our day ended with a peaceful visit to Kovalam Beach. The golden sands, the rhythmic sound of the waves, and the soft evening breeze provided the perfect backdrop to reflect on the day.
