WEEK THREE CHRONICLES

 DAY 10

28/07/2025

A Day of Energetic Teaching and Exam Responsibilities

We reached St. Mary’s HSS, Kizhakketheruvu before 9:15 AM and completed the morning sign-in. After the prayer and announcements, I handled the first hour in 8D, where I taught the topic “Swadeshi Movement.” The students engaged well with the lesson, showing good interest in the national movement theme. During the third period, I had a substitution class in the same division and introduced the topic “Moderates and Extremists.” Both lessons allowed for meaningful discussion and participation, reinforcing the students' understanding of the early phases of India’s freedom struggle.

In the afternoon session, the school conducted two mid-term exams, and I was assigned paper counting duty as part of the exam-related responsibilities. It was a smooth and cooperative process with the support of fellow teacher trainees and staff. The day ended with the usual procedures, and we signed out at 4:15 PM before heading home. It was a balanced day of teaching, substitution, and administrative support, contributing to both my classroom experience and school responsibilities.

DAY 11

29/07/2025

A Day of Active Teaching and Intellectual Engagement

We reached the school before 9:15 AM and completed the morning sign-in. The day began with the school prayer and announcements, creating a calm and organized start. During the first hour, I handled a class in 8D on the topic “Home Rule League and Unity in Lucknow.” To introduce the lesson, I presented a photograph of Annie Besant and a slogan by Bal Gangadhara Tilak, then guided the students through a set of questions that led them to identify the topic. The class engaged in two activities — one using activity cards for group discussion and presentation, and another focused on review and follow-up tasks.

During the interval, a quiz competition was initiated by the Social Science Club, which brought a sense of enthusiasm and participation among the students. After the lunch break, mid-term examinations were conducted in all classes, and I was assigned to paper counting duty. This day offered me valuable experiences both in classroom interaction and administrative responsibilities. We signed out at 4:15 PM and returned home with a sense of accomplishment.

DAY 12

30/07/2025

A Day of Remembrance and Responsibility

We reached the school before 9:15 AM and completed the morning sign-in. As usual, the day began with the school prayer and announcements. A special prayer was conducted in remembrance of the Chooral Mala Mundakkai disaster, marking its one-year anniversary. The entire school observed a moment of silence to pay respects to the lives lost, creating a solemn and thoughtful atmosphere. During the second hour, I handled a class in 8 D, where I taught the topic "By Alternative Means." The lesson was delivered by first connecting the content with a real-life situation, helping students understand the shift in the national movement's strategies. The class was engaging, and students actively participated in the discussion and activities.

After the lunch break, I took part in paper counting duties. By 4:15 PM, we signed out and left for home. The day was a blend of teaching, emotional reflection, and administrative responsibilities, giving a deeper understanding of a teacher’s multifaceted role.

DAY 13

31/07/2025

Supporting School Activities During Examination and Sports Day Preparation

We reached school before 9:15 AM and completed the morning sign-in. I had morning duty near the entrance to help students line up properly. Due to mid-term exams, there was no assembly, and I couldn’t take my 8D class as two exams were held in the morning.

Though I had no exam duty, I was involved in paper counting and lunch serving. During free time, I revised lesson plans and observed the school’s exam-time discipline. In the last period, as most teachers were busy preparing for Sports Day, some of us teacher trainees, including me, managed classes. I signed out at 4:15 PM, realizing the importance of supporting school functioning beyond classroom teaching.

DAY 14

01/08/2025

Duties on the Track

We reached school by 8:10 AM and signed in. The much-awaited Annual Sports Day began at 8:30 AM with a flag hoisting and the 1500-meter race. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Baijukumar K., Deputy Superintendent of Police, after a vibrant march-past. The principal, Mr. Jomy, gave the welcome speech, followed by the chief guest’s address and a vote of thanks by the Headmaster, Mr. Raju.

Various athletic events were conducted throughout the day, with winners receiving certificates on the spot. I was assigned finishing point duty for the 100- and 200-meter races and took up multiple responsibilities to support the event. Though it was a busy day, it was fulfilling to contribute to such a dynamic and well-coordinated program.
