The Onam celebrations at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College were held on 27th August (Wednesday), filling the campus with festive joy, cultural beauty, and togetherness. The day opened with a colorful khoshayathra, where students in traditional Kerala attire joined Mahabali in a vibrant procession, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of chendamelam. The rally ended at the college with a lively fireworks display, which lifted the spirit of the day.
The morning session also featured the creation of a beautiful Athapookalam, with students from both batches contributing enthusiastically. Soon after, the formal inauguration took place in the presence of our Manager and Principal, followed by a sequence of cultural performances. I had the privilege of taking part in both the Thiruvathira dance and the energetic flash mob, which made the celebration especially memorable for me.
Traditional Onam games such as Kasera Kali, Kulam Kara, Candy Race, Kalam Adi, Biscuits Catcher, and the classic Lemon and Spoon race brought fun and cheer to the day. I proudly participated in the Lemon and Spoon competition and secured the second prize, which was a personal highlight.
A sumptuous Onasadhya, complete with payasam, was then served to teachers, juniors, and M.Ed. students, creating a true sense of unity. In the afternoon, the competitive spirit was on full display during Vadam Vali, where the second years claimed victory.
The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, the declaration of house champions, a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sithusha Teacher, and closing remarks from our Principal. The event was a perfect blend of culture, fun, and fellowship, leaving behind beautiful memories of Onam that will be cherished for years to come.
